08/03/2010 The market for food services equipment is estimated to have reached USD 1.287 billion in the year 2009, compared to USD 1.3 billion in 2008. However with revival of the global economy, the market is expected to increase by nearly 4% to reach USD 1.342 billion in 2010. There are around 70,000 foodservice commercial outlets and 15,000 institutional businesses in the country. Imports account for 80% of Australian food services market. The main supplier countries are: China (32% of the total imports in 2009) followed by Italy (20%), Germany (8%), and the U.S.A. (8%). The equipment in demand primarily includes: electric and combined gas-electric cooking equipment, non-electric bakery ovens, stainless steel sinks, refrigerating equipment, and electric coffee/tea making machines. |
