According to the information provided by the trade association Freshuelva, the production of strawberries in Spain declined from 254,968 tons in the year 2006 to 237,000 tons in 2007. The reason behind this decline is that country's cultivation area has reduced from 6,280 hectares in 2006 to 6,230 hectares in 2007. The producers are interested to produce less quantity but would like to improve the quality of strawberries particularly their organoleptic properties. On the other hand the production of raspberries in the country increased by 2.5% to reach 10,250 tons in 2007. Reduce
